☆ HARI RAYA!! ☆

                                                  Hello...Hello... people...

This week, there is Hari Raya with festivities in Malaysia.

I wanna say, I don't know more Malaysia history and culture.  Actually, I search some information  help me understanding from the website.

Hari Raya Puasa is a very important occasion that is celebrated by Muslims all over the world.

"SELAMAT HARI RAYA"

In Malay the word Hari Raya means "A Great Day" and Puasa derives from Sanskrit meaning "fasting or abstention". So, Hari Raya Puasa literally means great day of fasting or in actual terms the festival marking the end of a period of fasting.

Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, is not to be confused with Hari Raya Haji, which takes place about three months later. The former commemorates the end of Ramadan, while the latter is a festival that celebrates the Haj, or pilgrimage to Mecca made by Muslims.

In Malaysia, the period of fasting ends when the new moon is sighted on the evening of the last day of Ramadhan.

As far as I know, one of the tenets of Islam is to fast during the month of Ramadan, ninth month of the Muslim lunar calendar. This is a compulsory fast where faithful Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and other sensual pleasures from dawn to dusk.

Preparations

Everyone is usually decked out in their traditional best to mark the special occasion. Men are usually dressed in Baju Melayu, while the Baju Kurung, the quintessential Malay attire for females.

Houses are thoroughly cleaned and decorated with the lighting of oil lamps to welcome the angels which is believed to be visiting the earth during the seven days preceding the festival.

Typically on the day of the festivities, family members, particularly the women, are seen quite occupied with cooking  food, cakes, sweets, biscuits and several other delicacies to be used on the day of Hari Raya.

Celebrations

On the day, they also visit their relatives and friends to celebrate the happy occasion. If you visit Muslims' homes on Hari Raya Puasa you can expect to taste a wide variety of delicious spicy dishes. Some favorite dishes that can be found in Muslims homes on this special occasion are ketupat, lontong, nasi padang and beef rendang.
The Muslims also have the habit of giving packets of money to kids when they go visiting. The packets are usually be in green color and children often look forward to getting these money tokens on Hari Raya Puasa.

Overall, Hari Raya Puasa is a joyous occasion for the Muslims and non-Muslims in Malaysia. This festival marks an important time for Muslims to unite as a family in the exchange of love, blessings and forgiveness.

Oh it seems to me, I think this is a special holiday . Not only give me knowledge about Malaysia traditional culture , but also have a nice holiday with my friends.   NICE!!  O(∩_∩)O
